Stripe US from Egypt: A Practical Guide for SaaS Founders & Shopify Sellers (2026)
Why Stripe US, not Stripe Egypt
As of 2026, Stripe is still not officially available for businesses registered in Egypt. Workarounds via Atlas or intermediaries carry higher fees, missing features (Radar, Terminal, Tax) and constant risk of account freeze. The clean path is a Wyoming LLC with a real US EIN and US bank account.
What Stripe actually verifies
- US EIN issued by the IRS (not a copy, real letter).
- US business address (your registered agent counts).
- US bank account in the LLC name — Mercury works perfectly.
- Owner ID: your Egyptian passport is accepted.
You do not need a US SSN — Stripe verifies the EIN of the business, not an SSN of the owner.
The full setup, step by step
- Form the Wyoming LLC (24–48h).
- Get EIN (24–72h with Wyoming Experts).
- Open Mercury account (12–24h once EIN is in).
- Apply to Stripe US — usually approved same-day.
- Connect Stripe to Shopify, Lemon Squeezy, Paddle, or your SaaS billing.
Payouts back to Egypt
Stripe pays out to Mercury in USD. From Mercury you can wire to your Egyptian bank in USD (fee ~$5) or use Wise/Payoneer for smaller amounts. Do not route Stripe payouts through personal accounts — this triggers account reviews.
Shopify-specific notes
Set the Shopify store country to United States to match the LLC. Use the LLC address, EIN, and Mercury bank. Sales tax collection is handled by Shopify Tax — you only remit where your nexus exceeds thresholds.
Get Stripe-ready in under a week
Formation, EIN, Mercury and Stripe onboarding — done for you. Egyptian founders live on Stripe in 4 business days.
FAQ
Will Stripe close my account if it sees Egyptian logins? No — Stripe cares about the business jurisdiction, not the founder location. Millions of non-US founders operate US Stripe accounts.
Do I need a US phone number? No — Stripe accepts international numbers for 2FA.
